I called today to make Nate an appointment with a neurologist. The earliest appointment available is October 29!!! I almost cried. I asked her to put me on the cancellation list, and she said she will but the list is quite long. I am trying not to be too discouraged. Can you tell how well that's working??

That's a big :( from me. I'm so sorry! I have a hard time believing that a doctor has SO many patients that s/he can't work someone in. Egad!
Jodie -isn't there more than one pediatric neurologist in NY? Just a thought. They could all be this booked too. The medical profession is frustrating - period. Sorry.
Oh that is horrendous! So what can be done in the meantime? Nothing? He could be getting so many services over the next few month. Prayers for cancellations!
You could always ask Amy or Molly if they have any recommendations? Though I know Amy's advice is to usually stick out the wait and see the best.
That is unbeliveable that you have to wait so long to get an appt. It is seriously unreal sometimes trying to get to see a specailist.
In the meantime I would google ASL and they have video showing you signs. That way he can start to communicate with you. He will be able to pick it up and at least it will give him a way to communicate with you!
I'll be sending prayers that Nate gets in sooner!
Jodie- Here is my first thought... Has nate had an MRI? If your general doctor can order a MRI and they find something then maybe they can work you in quicker... However, This can also give you a diagnosis to start immediate therapies through a first step program.... I know the frustration... We had to cancel a beurology appointment in July due to sickness for our daughter...reschedule date Nov 21 ...Hope things can get better as a mom you just want to kknow :)
Jodie, just stopping in; have been getting the CaringBridge updates but I know you have lots more going on, too. Deanna's advice sounds like a good option to try; hang in there and know we're all pulling for you. Many, many hugs from Denver, K.
